NTM x MISSBISH
First off, what inspired you to start @notummymommy? I was inspired to create No Tummy Mommy when I had my daughter and she gave me every reason to want to be a healthier and happier version of myself.
There are a lot of “body guides” and ”workout guides” out there, what’s different about @notummymommy? No Tummy Mommy programs are designed with the on-the-go mother in mind. Workouts can be done in the comfort of your own home and meal plans are family friendly and easy to follow.
How do you customize each plan to suit each individual customer? And why is this aspect of @notummymommy so important? Every mother is different and a personalized fitness and nutrition regimen can be designed to suit a mother’s individual specific needs, schedule and goals. Currently, No Tummy Mommy is not taking on customized clients at the moment as we have been focusing on standardized 30-day programs to help kick start any mother’s fitness journey. It is still an awesome way to get your feet wet with No Tummy Mommy!
You have a plethora of experience. From your Human Biology degree, to years of experience in the industry, and being a mommy yourself - how does all of this influence what you do? My education coupled with my experience helps me to be confident with the knowledge I provide to mothers while coaching them to build healthy lifestyle habits that will last a lifetime.
What has becoming a mom taught you about yourself? Becoming a mother is the hardest job I’ve ever done, but the most rewarding one. It’s taught me how to be more easy going and to embrace every unpredictable moment – whether it’s missing my daughter’s naptime or discovering pink paint on my bedroom wall.
What do you hope women take away from @notummymommy? I hope that women, especially mothers, can feel motivated to live a healthier life and feel inspired to be more comfortable and confident with their (postpartum) bodies.
What do you think is the biggest mistake people are making when it comes to their diet and exercise? It’s natural for human beings to want a “quick fix” especially when it comes to weight loss. But I believe that creating a healthy lifestyle that doesn’t feel like “a diet” is by far the best way to achieve your body goals and be able to maintain them for years to come.
In your testimonial you say you hope you’re viewed as a “positive health advocate” what does this mean to you? My goal and the purpose behind No Tummy Mommy is to support mothers throughout their fitness journey and help them be healthier and happier mamas.
There are so many challenges and changes – both physical and mental – when having children. What are some key pieces of advice you have for first time mothers? I’ve heard different advice from every friend and mother out there. As a first-time mother I discovered what works best for me and my family … and a lot of times, I just went with the flow. Lastly, I do have to say I committed to a sleep-training regimen for my daughter and it was a life saver for me.
If your not helping other mommies get into shape, what would we find you doing? A lot of people don’t know this, but I work a full-time 9-5 job in medical sales. Majority of my day is spent working a corporate job while also juggling mom life and No Tummy Mommy, which started out as a passion project and continues to be so much more each day.
What are three-hidden gems in Toronto? I love the city I live in and continue to explore and find new spots. A lot of people ask where I go for good foot on the go (which is often hard to find); right now my go-to for healthy lunch is Impact Kitchen. The best Kombucha I’ve had in a long time is at Sweat & Soda in Leslieville and of course, every mother needs their java … my favorite coffee spot right now is Neo Coffee and not to mention they have some extraordinary matcha pastries that you won’t find anywhere else in the city.
What does MISSBISH mean to you? To me, MISSBISH means empowerment and bringing amazing people together to be that much stronger.
