So you have Covid-19 to blame for your gym closing … now what? Or perhaps you’re not comfortable venturing in to a gym just yet. I get that! But that doesn’t mean you throw your fitness goals out the window. 2020 isn’t over yet and there are still ways you can get in a solid sweat at home (or outdoors). Here are just a few of my favourite workout apps and platforms for 2020! I’ll be sure to share some big names in the industry, but I will also show some local love as well!

SWEAT

I’m sure all of you have heard of the SWEAT app. It is a huge online community that offers workouts for all levels and body types. I might be a bit bias because I was a contributor on their blog for years (check me out here), but the #BBG community provides accountability and motivation that women all over the world love! Also, I have a major mom crush on Kelsey Wells.

Nike Training Club

You’ll find some of the best workouts, running programs and nutrition advice all on this one platform. On the Nike Training Club App you can find routines that match your goals and be guided by some of the most elite Nike trainers across the world. My hubby swears by this app especially for all the running he is doing during the pandemic!

Peloton

I own a Peloton bike and although I considered it a bit steep in price when I got it, I now believe it has been worth every penny. In addition to the awesome rides and community, you also have access to various workouts ranging from barre and yoga to meditation and stretching. I love that you can also select the duration of the workout you want and genre of music you want to listen to! PS - right now you can try the Peloton app free for 30 days!

YYOGA at Home

I loved this platform and used it all last summer while in Greece. You can stream yoga, pilates, and mindful movement classes with the best teachers in Canada. Yes, it’s Canadian too! They also offer Live Streaming for that real in-studio feel if you just aren’t ready to step foot into a class setting just yet. Sadly, their studios in Toronto just shut down during the pandemic.

Tone It Up

Just like the Sweat app, TIU offers a huge online community that can inspire and motivate you along the way. I think this is a great place to start for beginners. But this doesn’t mean it’s easy, peasy! There are new workouts added weekly including kickboxing and kettlebell programs. Plus, you get access to a ton of delicious recipes!

Aaptiv

Don’t care for video? Then Aaptiv, an audio-based fitness workout app, is for you. You can personalize it to your goals and select the type of training you’re looking for. All you have to do is plug in your headphones and follow along!

Headspace

Mental fitness should be very much an important part of your overall fitness routine. This is why I’m including Headspace as one of my top picks. Make sure you are devoting quality time to meditation and mindfulness. You can try it free, which I highly recommend. Devoting time to working your mental fitness will help you achieve your physical fitness goals more than you could imagine.

Kelsey Rose Fitness

I couldn’t help but give some love to a Toronto-based personal trainer who just launched her fitness platform and app this year. You can access her growing on-demand workout library with new workouts released weekly. Workouts are efficient and effective and Kelsey Rose also provides a proposed workout routine for you at the start of each week!

Yoga Mamas On Demand

Toronto Yoga Mamas is a must for mothers in all stages of motherhood. Jamie, the founder of TYM, is such an inspiration and created an on-demand library for the Yoga Mamas community over the recent months. You can try it out for 7 days free right now! The classes all specialize in movement from preconception to postpartum with over 50 classes including Yoga, Barre, Pilates, Bootcamp and more!

SWORKIT

A great place to start for beginners, Sworkit has been well-known in the fitness app space for some time. It’s super simple and you can select your daily workout based on your goals. In case you didn’t know, SWORKIT stands for ‘Simply Work It’. With over 400 classes available on demand, you can’t go wrong with giving the free trial a go!

I hope this list helps you continue to push towards your goals for 2020 and beyond! Remember, right now (more than ever) it’s so important to take care of our wellbeing, both mental and physical. If you haven’t already, make sure you download my FREE 5-day Guide To Self-Love for Mind + Body!
