Healthy Snack Ideas 101

I’ve been asking myself how my kid survived at school without 300 snacks a day. Since we have been home during this pandemic, I’ve been hearing “I want a snack!” all day long. There are only so many nuts and granola bars to go around! We all need variety, but more importantly we want a healthy variety of snacks. This is exactly why I think it’s perfect timing to be sharing a small series I worked on with my friend, Nish, who is a Registered Dietitian, owner of Vibrant Nutrition and also a mom of two! Nish also did a guest post on my blog a few years ago on Lunchtime Expectations. I am so excited that we were able to come together again to share this with you! Yes, this all happened pre-COVID!

Introducing: Mom Life Meets Kitchen

Before social distancing was a thing, I was fortunate enough to spend a day in the kitchen with Nish. In a few short hours she taught me some new snack options that we now have on rotation while self-isolating at home. These recipes are healthy, easy and 100% delicious! So if you’re getting tired of handing your kids a bowl of pretzels every day, check out these recipes. They are guaranteed to be a hit! Harper and Noa give them all a 10/10!

Warning: these snacks are unique and not the regular ‘healthy snacks’ you would find on other mom blogs. They are wildly addictive!

Cucumber + Radish Canopé

Sounds weird? Yup. I thought the same. But give it a chance (like me) and you will never look at radishes the same again. Watch the video and the only ingredients you need are:

2 Radishes

1 Cucumber

Butter

2 Slices of rye bread

Iodized Table Salt (yes, you read that right)

Raw Mushroom Bites

Say what? Yes, this unique snack includes raw mushrooms. I promise you that your taste buds will be blown away. Here’s the video, but get the following THREE ingredients ready:

Goat Cheese (or a plant based option like babaganoush or hummus)

Mushrooms

Chives

Tomatoes + Almond Crunch

Sooo, this is exactly what you think it is: a grape tomato with an almond. Sounds too simple? Well, you’d be surprised at how yummy this one bite of goodness is. Grab your grape tomatoes and almonds and get to it!

Delicious Deviled Eggs

An oldie, but a goodie. This one will always be a classic, but a snack that often gets forgotten. Nish reminded me just how great a deviled egg was and now I can’t stop! Watch the video, but the only ingredients you need are:
Eggs

Mayo

Salt + Peper

Paprika

We are living in uncertain times and our health is everything! Always remember that healthy eating is fundamental to good health. I hope that these snacks will come in handy over the next few weeks! Good luck, mamas! Stay safe. Stay sane … and keep the snacks coming!
